As May drew to an end I found myself and my housemate bagging up the last of our shopping in Weston Favell shopping centre. As I looked up to peruse the capitalistic landscape, my gaze was drawn to a diminutive presence not 10 meters from my attendant. It was the unmistakable figure (I say unmistakable, my house mate didn’t recognise him!) of Sri Lankan legend, Chaminda Vaas. As I approached him, he offered a warm smile and I remarked that I wished him a successful season and hoped that he would settle into the area. He thanked me with a warm smile and soft but strong voice. Everything about the man screamed quality and at that moment I knew that Chaminda Vaas was a Cogenhoe Cricket supporter.
In dispatches I would like to congratulate Dan for his ton, Zulu and Hyphen for tight spells and Eric for some early wickets. Well done also to Ash in the 2’s for his excellent spell against Old.
A decent start chaps, let us now follow this up with some hard but fair cricket over the next few weeks.
