Under 11’s Horton report

MATCH REPORT

Cogenhoe v Horton House B

16 May 2010

A spirited and encouraging start to the season for the U11s. Four of the team, Kieran Davies, Joseph Barbara, Archie Plowman and Alex Towler playing their first ever competitive games of cricket.

Despite being a player short, the youngsters, especially Kieran and Joseph, fielded with enthusiasm and energy.  Tom Robinson, who captained the side superbly, held a stunning return catch and Archie took his first wicket, clean bowled, just a couple of days after his 9th birthday.

Cogenhoe held Horton to 273 (teams start on 200) after the 16 overs.

Joseph and Kieran started with a steady partnership. The two over-age guests, Marlon Bridger and Chris Towler, as well as Tom, all hit some juicy boundaries. Alex scored his first runs for Cogenhoe and the team finished on a very respectable 238.

All of the team played with spirit and good sportsmanship and were a credit to the club.
