This week the U11’s travelled to Bugbrooke and unfortunately the U13’s match at the Northampton Saints was called off due to the rain.
Cogenhoe lost the toss and were put into bat. After getting off to a shakey start runs were scored by Amy Kempa, Archie Plowman, James Kempa, Josh Bastow, Max Murrell, and new captain Jack Buswell (who will share the captaincy with Archie Plowman across the season). However wickets were lost at regular intervals and Cogenhoe only managed to score a net total of 204.
When Cogenhoe took the field they made sure Bugbrooke would be able to chase that target down easily. Opening bowlers Archie Plowman (who finished the innings with the astonishing figures of 3-3-0-2) and James Kempa (2-0-6-1) shared 3 wickets to reduce Bugbrooke to a net score of 191 after 4 overs. Three more wickets shared between Josh Bastow (2-0-8-1) and Alex Towler (2-0-6-2) combined with very tight bowling from Max Murrell (2-1-4-0) and some excellent wicketkeeping from Lewis Holleborne esnured that Cogenhoe were still leading going into the final partnership.
Unfortunatelty Cogenhoe could not keep Bugbrooke below their net total in the final partnership and Bugbrooke finished off with a net total of 221.
