Youth reports by Chris Towler

This week saw the U11’s take on Northampton Saints B and the U13’s travel to Horton House.

The U11’s lost the toss and were put in to bat and the first partnership of Jack Buswell and Josh Bastow followed by a partnership of 20 from Alex Towler and Ray Ahmed and good batting towards the end from Captain Joseph Barbara saw Cogenhoe to a net total of 241.

In reply early wickets from Alex Towler and Harvey Reynolds left the Saints struggling. A run out to Jack Buswell and Ray Ahmed’s first wicket for the club after a superb catch from Alex Towler left Cogenhoe on top going into the final pair. But a last partnership of 28 left the Saints the victors by 18 runs in a game in which the U11s could feel very proud of their performance.

The U13’s lost the toss and were made to field first. Horton got off to an extremely quick start and after 8 overs the home side were 112-0. However, Jake Ovington got the first wicket and started the Cogenhoe fight back. Debutant Luke Richardson got a run out, Captain Tom Robinson took a wicket and a run out and U11s captain Joseph Barbara took two wickets as Horton finished up on 152–6. Joseph with figures of 3-0-9-2.

In reply, debutant William Addy became the first person to score 30 (batsmen retire at 30), his inning included 4 fours. A supporting 12* from Chris Towler helped the Cooks to their highest total this season. 85-8 off 20 overs.

The U11’s take on the Old Wellingburians and the U13’s have no fixture this week.
