Youth team reports by Chris Towler

This week both youth teams went back on the road as the U11’s played Nether Heyford and the U13’s travelled to St Crispins.

Cogenhoe won the toss and elected to field, with an early wicket to Alex Towler, the Cooks started well and with cheap bowling from Chris Alvis and debutant Ray Ahmed, Cogenhoe were on top. But the bowling lost its way a little bit and despite a truly superb run out from captain Joseph Barbara Nether Heyford finished on a net total of 308.

In reply, openers Archie Plowman and Amy Kempa got Cogenhoe off to a solid start. This was followed up by good batting from Alex Towler, Ray Ahmed, Chris Alvis and Wicketkeeper Fred Loveder saw Cogenhoe to a respectable finish of 232.

The U13’s took on St Crispins and despite an uncharacteristic slow start a wicket to debutant Billy Skelton and a run out to Chris Towler left St Crispins 66-2 inside 10 overs. A brilliant stumping to Matthew Wainwright off the bowling of Chris Alvis and two wickets to Jake Ovington left St Crispins 127-6 off their 20 overs.

In reply Cogenhoe lost both openers early but a partnership of 49* between Billy Skelton (21*) and captain Tom Robinson (20*) helped Cogenhoe to a total of 72-4, their highest this season.

This week sees two more away fixtures as the U11’s travel to the Northampton Saints B and the U13’s take on Horton House.
