Youth Update by Chris Towler

Cogenhoe had two home games this week as the U11s took on Bugbrooke and the U13s played Brixworth.

The U11s lost the toss and bowled first, wickets were initially hard to come by but a run-out from Amy Kempa and a wicket to her brother James Kempa (thanks to a simply stunning catch from Captain Joseph Barbara) and some cheap bowling from Josh Barstow and Harvey Reynolds, Bugbrooke were restricted to a net score of 264.

In reply, wickets restricted Cogenhoe from reaching the target although  there was some good batting from Alex Towler, James Kempa, wicketkeeper Fred Loveder and Captain Joseph Barbara  despite this it was not enough to see Cogenhoe to victory.

The U13s took the field first against Bugbrooke and put out a good bowling and fielding performance. Captain Tom Robinson made the first breakthrough and wickets to Alex Towler, Kieran Davies and Joseph Barbara put Cogenhoe into a good position, then Leg-spinner Jordan Hashim took two wickets, the first a stumping from Wicketkeeper Chris Towler and the second bowled and a late wicket to Umang Dave kept Brixworth to 124-7 off their 20 overs.

In response Cogenhoe were halted by wickets with only opener Umang Dave offered any resistance scoring 11* , carrying his bat in the process and Brixworth left Compton Park the victors.
