The Cogenhoe U11’s posted an excellent performance in their first match of the season against Northampton Saints B. The team lost narrowly by 19 runs but played really well with great spirit and great sportsmanship.
Cogenhoe won the toss and choose to field and in the first over Archie Plowman took the first wicket of the season, clean bowling the batsman. In the end the Saints scored 248-3 (the score starts at 200 ) with the wickets being shared between Archie and Jack Buswell who took 2 wickets. Thomas Linnell playing just his second match ( keeping in the first one ) also bowled really well at a crucial stage.
Cogenhoe then batted and some sweetly struckfours were hit by wicketkeeper Josh Barstow who was making his Cogenhoe debut, Alex Towler and new skipper Joseph Barbara who led the team with great discipline and excellent encouragement. In the end Cogenhoe passed the Saints score but lost more wickets so ended up losing by a small margin.
Overall a fantastic effort and performance by theteamwhich impressed the coaches of both sides and leaves high hopes for the rest of the season.
