Rain Rain go away

Saturdays win over S & L saw us strengthen our grip on second place whilst the rain later on in the day then provided us with the chance to dream of winning the title. The rain frustrated Oundle II , as they must have been confident of a 30 point haul having Yelvertoft at 11-4 after posting a 200 plus score themselves.

The intervening rain which saw the game abandoned has left the door ajar for us providing we win our last two games and of course providing the weather is kind to us. If the weather is good for the next two weekends then we need to make sure we approach the games with the right attitude. We need to be positive and play good aggressive cricket, what we must not do is turn up expecting to win. We must give the opposition the utmost respect as often playing without fear as they no doubt will do gives you a freedom to express yourself and so we need to ensure we are right on top of our game.

Our bowlers were  once again to the fore against S & L  with Gareth producing and I quote from the Chronicle ” sensational figures” of 4-1 . Nick Lester 3-20, Jason 2-16 and Alex 1-13 also performing well as they have all season and many of our wins have stemmed  from their efforts this season.

Fletch21* and  Wayne  13* ( nice to see you back mate) guided us home as we recorded an 8 wicket win. With 2 home games left against County Hall and Great Oakley II our destiny is in our own hands (weather permitting) and I have every confidence in Gareth and the boys.

The seconds wrap up their season with a trip to  the division champions Gumley after a week off. The seconds are guaranteed finishing in either fifth or sixth place which is a great effort following their relegation last season and full credit must go to everyone concerned with the seconds for their commitment and efforts this season.
