Pints pulls in the records

Phil Whiteman`s superb fundraiser for Cynthia Spencer Hospice Pints Make Prizes smashed all records for the fourth year running as this years Grand Raffle and Curry Night ended with an incredible £16 586 raised by the 4 Pints Make Prizes fundraisers.

It all kicked off last week on Saturday 20 th June at Abington Park where in typical Phil style the teams that had entered the PMP4 challenge met to see what Phil had in store for them. It was usual stuff for a Saturday morning for Phil, sticking your hand in a box of Cockroaches , smelling Dave Foleys feet , singing the Birdie song to the staff at the Cynthia Spencer shop all this and then a myriad of different challenges as they made their way to the pub !

A week later and Cogenhoe was the venue for the Grand Raffle and Curry Night. With 70 top quality prizes on offer and with the chance of a Curry prepared by Bhavika all was set fair for a cracking evening and no one came away disappointed as the good people of Cogenhoe, the cricket club, DHL, and Homebase ensured a record breaking night.

Firstly the delicious Chicken Curry prepared by Bhavika and Bren with more than a little help from Hrishi went down a storm. It really is a delight to eat such wonderfully prepared and cooked food. Bhavika not only gives her time free of charge but also provides all the food and ingredients  free too. Bren also gave her time  free too although I am reliably informed that husband Rob lent a hand stirring and tasting!!

Our thanks to Bhavika, Bren and Hrishi for providing such a superb meal

The draw then took place for the 70 superb prizes that included 2 Eurostar return tickets, matchday tickets from the Cobblers and Steelbacks, A microwave, Garden Table & Chairs, 6 London Midland train tickets, A Force Indian signed cap, A signed Saints rugby ball and a signed football from Manchester United.

Very generously the signed Man Utd football was donated for auction and Iqubal Ladha won that auction with a bid of £100. An Abseiling experience down the Express Lift Tower was also auctioned with Sarah Whiteman winning that with a bid of £50

With the generosity of Iqubal, Sarah and Alex Harvey-Jones added into the total raised by the Curry Night and ticket sales on the night we raised £1 082 on Saturday  alone… quite incredible.

That gave us a grand total of £5 561 raised for Pints Makes Prizes 4 and as previously stated a total of

£16 586 in 4 years , amazing.

Sue Bownass from Cynthia Spencer ended the evening by thanking everyone involved and when she told you just what £16 000 would fund you realised just what a fantastic job the PMP  has done.

Phil deserves all the credit for his enthusiasm and drive it really does take over his life and has done for 4 years now and he deserves all the tributes and accolades that come his way.

Thanks also to Steve Millard who sold a fantastic £1 300 worth of raffle tickets and also Mick Bustin who sold £300 worth to add to the £700 he raised abseiling down the Express Lift Tower last year.

There are too many people and companies to thank and here are just a few of them, DHL and all the staff at DHL for their support, Burghley Accountancy, Bells, Friars Farm, Northampton Scuba Centre, The Hopping Hare, Rockingham Raceway, Silverstone , Sauls of Spratton, Harvester, London Midland , Eurostar, Nobby, Dave , Andy , Lisa, Sarah, Emily, Cogenhoe CC, The Millard Family.
