Fantasy Cricket Update #4
After the stormy weather last week ruined a day of Cricket for the entire NCL (more or less) we return with two cracking performances.
The First XI traveled (seemingly forever) to Gretton and were once again put to the sword by some impressive range hitting, however an excellent chase by a brace of Gareth’s whom I shall dub “Helmet” and “Hair” (Goddard & Tompkins respectively) saw victory seized. The Second XI quickly put any resistance shown by Kettering down with a 5-fer for Tony Bird wiping out much of their middle order. The innings was rounded out nicely by Captain Ryan Knight getting a well earned 54*.
So, what does this mean for the Fantasy League!
“Flock In Hell” remain top however the season is far from over. Only 211pts separate 2nd place “Kicking Edgar Allen Poe” and 10th place “Norfolk ‘N’ Chance” which can be easily swung by a single top drawer performance. A lot of the difference at this stage comes down to Captain choice. McLaughlin is heavily backed and is scoring decent points whereas T Bird was seemingly deemed too expensive and was rarely selected. Where this is really interesting is McLaughlin is likely to play all available matches whereas T Bird’s season is a bit more truncated with holidays and teams dropping out of the league.
